Welcome to paradise

Far away from the hustle and bustle of civilisation, Mats Pettersson, your host, welcomes you to the Snowtrail Dogcamp in the far north of Sweden.

Get to know Lapland in winter or summer. We have a wide range of offers that will allow you to experience every season of Lapland. In winter with our sled dogs, in summer on foot or by canoe. You will be fascinated by the landscape and nature and you will feel comfortable with us at Snowtrail Dogcamp Lodge (Kiruna/Gällivare).

Relax at the family-friendly sled dog camp and experience the beauty and variety of colours in the land of the midnight sun. Our small, cozy lodge is located far away from any civilization in the middle of the Swedish wilderness about 150 km north of the Arctic Circle between Kiruna and Gällivare.

Welcome to Snowtrail Dogcamp. My name is Mats Pettersson, I am the new owner and host at Snowtrail Dogcamp.

First of all, I would like to thank Lotti Meier for her trust and the opportunity to take over this wonderful place in the wilderness of Swedish Lapland from her and to continue it with the same passion for dogs, nature and people.

I grew up in the Kiruna region and took part 7 times in the world's longest and toughest dog sled race, the "Iditarod" in Alaska, which is 1,850 kilometres long.

During the season, I will be happy to tell my guests in the evenings about my adventures, experiences with sled dogs, life in Lapland and of course about the Iditarod Race. I have beautiful pictures to go with it.

I look forward to welcoming you here at the camp soon and sharing with you the passion for sled dogs and the wonderful nature here.

Happy Trails
Mats Petterson with dogs
