Husky QRS - Long Tour

They have already learned the technique of dog sledding, love challenging tours and want to experience something very special. Then this long tour is just the right thing for you.

Experience the Swedish Fjäll during 10 days and enjoy the unique landscape we experience together with the dogs.

2018 we were very lucky with the weather - all participants were enthusiastic about the tour and the experiences. So the idea was born to organize a long tour where only the beginning and the end are clearly defined. In between everything is open. Adapted to the weather and the snow conditions we decide from day to day where we want to go the next day or if we allow ourselves and the dogs a rest day.

Start: Snowtrail Dogcamp in Moskojärvi
Destination: Depending on the conditions, either Nikkalokta (if we are heading north) or then Saltoluokta at the edge of the famous Sarek National Park (if we are heading south).

 Travel date

  • From Moskojärvi to ...
Arrival on Friday, 01.04. and start of the tour on Saturday, 02.4. until Sunday, 10.04.2022.
Return journey then on Monday 11.4.2022

Programme details

Saturday - Arrival We will pick you up by car at the airport in Kiruna. The drive to Moskojärvi takes about one hour. From our parking lot we will continue by snowmobile for about 3 km before you reach our lodge. During a cosy dinner you will get to know the guests of the longtour.

Sunday - Start of the dog sled tour of several days After an extensive breakfast you pack your sled, of course there is a "refresher course" for those who have forgotten mushing a bit. With the help of the crew you will harness your dogs, so that you can leave soon. After about 50 km you will reach Killinge. Here you will stay overnight in a comfortable old school, which even offers water and electricity.

The next days will decide the route from day to day based on the weather and snow conditions as well as the condition of the dogs and the mushers. Of course we will include one or the other rest day. Finally we want to enjoy the tour together with the dogs and at least the dogs are looking forward to one or more Fridays. You can spend these Fridays as you like with lazing around, ice fishing, snowshoeing, a winter walk or even peacefully sleeping or reading. Just as you please.
Possible stops on our tour are: Singi, Hukejaure, Tjäktja, Sälka, Kaitumjaure, Tjaunajokk, Saltoluokta, Nikkaluokta

On Sunday in the late afternoon we are back in Skaulo. We need this day as buffer and reserve day. Depending on when we are back, you can enjoy the time in the camp and look forward to a fine dinner.

Monday is the return day, now it is time to pack your bags and say goodbye after breakfast. Of course, we will drive you to the airport in Kiruna by minibus and bid you a hearty farewell there, so that you will reach your flight home on time.

  • Outward and return journey are identical - simply in reverse order. The destination and the starting point are determined by weather and snow conditions.
