Husky KLM - for the ambitious

You have already learned the technique of dog sledding and love challenging tours. Then you experience the Swedish Fjäll in 6 days on approx. 320 km.

You will quickly become familiar again with the technique of mushing and start the day after your arrival with your own dog team (4 - 6 dogs). You will pass light forests, lakes and tundras north of the polar circle and experience the Swedish fells.

Programme details

1st day - Arrival We will pick you up by car at the airport in Kiruna. The drive to Moskojärvi takes about one hour. From our parking lot we will continue by snowmobile for about 3 km before you reach our lodge. During a cosy dinner you will get to know the other guests.

2nd day - Start of the dog sled tour of several days After an extensive breakfast you pack your sled, of course there is a "refresher course" for those who have forgotten mushing a bit. With the help of the crew you will harness your dogs, so that you can leave soon. After about 50 km you will reach Killinge. Here you will stay overnight in a comfortable old school, which even offers water and electricity.

Day 3 - On the way to Tyuonajokk Today you will have to go to Tyuonajokk, about 75 km away from Killinge. The fishing camp Tjuonajokk is situated lonely in the fells at the river Kaitum and is surrounded by a breathtaking scenery of the Swedish mountains. Once there, you first take care of your dogs, then you unpack your sled and let yourself be spoilt with a delicious meal in the restaurant. This night you will sleep in a cozy cabin, even a sauna is at your disposal.

4th day - On the way to Kaitumjaure After a detailed breakfast you will have to make your next stage of about 38 km to Kaitumjaure. You will stay overnight in a cabin of the Svenska Turistföreningen (STF). It is situated on a hill from where you have a view over the whole Kaitum valley. The hut is part of a stage of the famous Kungsleden (King's path).

Day 5 - Back to Tyuonajokk Today you will return to Tyuonajokk. The restaurant, the cosy cabins and the sauna are at your disposal again.

Day 6 - Return to Killinge You will drive all the way back to Killinge (75 km) along the Kaitum River.

Day 7 - Return to camp Your last stage back to camp is about 50 km, passing Lake Pauki and Lake Tjautja. Arrived at the camp, a sauna and a hearty, well-deserved dinner await you.

Day 8 - Departure Today it is time to pack your bags and say goodbye. After breakfast we will drive you by snowmobile to the parking lot and from there by minibus to the airport in Kiruna.

Notes

  • Requirements for this tour are experience in mushing and physical fitness.
  • For the more adventurous among you, we offer the opportunity to spend a night out in the wilderness where, with a bit of luck, you can experience the northern lights up close. All necessary information and the appropriate equipment for an unforgettable night out in the wilderness are available on request.
  • On the tour you are responsible for your dog team and help with the care and supervision of the dogs.
  • As our programs are dependent on the weather, we reserve the right to change the course of the daily programs.
  • Prerequisite for the execution of the journey is the participation of at least 4 persons to a maximum of 6 persons.
